Still I'll have a go. I.M.M '97 (24th to 26th May) I have written to Iain Hodgson about rduced ferry prices. I sent the letter just a week ago and have not yet received anything (I don't expect to for a little while). Has anyone done the same thing and received anything to date? I have done a little research and the best price is 199 pounds for the 99 minute crossing from Hollyhead to Rosslare. If this proves to be the cheapest option then is anyone else planning to take the same route? If so then perhaps we could organise a mass crossing. As I am in Ireland I will be trying to get down to Bandon (the site of the I.M.M) tommorow if I get the time (It is a good few hours drive there and back0. I'll try and pass some information about the site to the list. Paul Hill Northavon Mini Drivers web pages. http://tao.btc.uwe.ac.uk/~paulhill/namd.

Right! time for another mail (2 in 2 days....Gosh!) :-)
I have just driven to Bandon, site of the '97 I.M.M and a long time it
took me as well. The only problem is Cork, where the road signs start
of well, tail off a little then basically vanish just before the
required turn-off.
Just in case anyone needs directions......
From Cork, head towards Bandon on the N17 for about 20 miles. When
you reach the sign "Welcome to Bandon" on the left you will also
notice an ESSO garage on the left. Drive on down this road (past a
Texaco Garage) to some traffic lights at the bottom, Turn left then take
the next immediate right. This brings you into a road with shops on
either side. Take the 2nd on the left (Green road sign points
this way with some other names on it) and then bear around to the right.
follow this until you get to a garage on the left hand side, there is a
road on the left and a Brick wall going around the corner. This is the
perimeter of the sports ground. Go up the road on the left and the
entrance is the next right....
Of course this could have been the wrong place... :-)
To get to this place and back again took me 5 hours (5pm to 10pm) and I
missed my dinner - I hope you lot are happy :-) I nearly died several times
on the mad Irish roads (Ok, OK some of it was my fault)

Hello Micke!
Still remember the IMM ´96 and the green Mini from Finland that played
rather loud music (Alice...)? Well, I just thought that you would like to
know that I´m installing even more louder system for IMM ´97! Ha ha haa!!!
We have a new club here in Finland: MINI BROTHERS FINLAND!
We hope to be more active than the flying finns in participating different
meetings and stuff. But naturally we co-operate with the flying finns. I can
give you more information if you are interested...
And it would be nice to hear from you and your plans to go to Ireland. Like
what route are you planning to take and at what price. I know that there are
2-3 Minis from Finland coming, so maybe we could travel together? The cars
will be my green musical mini and Kaj Tarvainen´s red ´66 that were in
Germany too.
Please write so maybe we can work something out.

Answer from Micke Pettersson to the mail above:
As far as I have heard until now the situation is like this :
We are three Minis going from Gothenburg the 17th of May to Harwich , we are going
around in England for some days , then over to Ireland via Pembroke-Rosslare and
attend the IMM97 in Bandon. After the meeting are we driving around on Ireland for
some days. Two of the Minis will leave Ireland on friday the 30th of May from
Dublin-Holyhead and take the ferry back to Sweden from Harwich the 1st of June.
The other one is taking the ferry back to Sweden from Harwich the 8th of June.
There are two other swedish Minis taking the ferry from Esbjerg, Denmark the 21st of
May , they will take the ferry Holyhead-Dublin the night to Friday together with lots
of other Minis from England and drive down to the meeting during Friday. They will stay
on Ireland until 2nd of June and then take the ferry back to Sweden the 3rd of June.
There are three (maybe four) other swedish Minis going as well but I don´t know their
plans yet.
I heard that there is two (or more) finnish cars going with the swedish cars that are taking
the ferry from Esbjerg ( Pasi and Kirpu ).
I had a phonecall last week from someone in Helsinki that was going to take the ferry
from Esbjerg the 19th or maybe the 17th from Gothenburg .
When it comes to prices there is a special offer for Miniowners , I have a copy here:
Ferry offer with the ferry company Scandinavian Seaways .
Ferry from Gothenburg to Harwich in economy-cabins and the ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare.
For one car and two persons is the price 2495 SEK.
The price is valid from 18/5 when going from Gothenburg(S) or Esbjerg(DK) and until 1/6 home
from Harwich to Gothenburg(S) or Esbjerg (DK).
Bookings are to be made directly at Scandinavian Seaways on phone +46-(0)31-650 650, groups at
phone +46-(0)31-650 770. Say that you are going to "Minitreffen" when you are booking and you
will get the reduced price (normal price is 3195 SEK).
It is short time but I think it can be stretched a little , ask them or phone the guy that
dealed the price with them , Fred Eklöw +46 (0)8-510 522 92.
I have gathered some info about IMM97 on a webpage, and if you havn´t seen it, the URL is:

Hej igen Micke!
Olle B, Eskilstuna.

Hello Micke!
Thanks for all the information. Now we just have to decide which route to
take, we´ll see. Sorry for not writing earlier, but we had some difficulties
with the computer system, it also lost the pictures you send. So, could you
send them again, please.
By the way, are there a lot of Mk I minis in Sweden? As they appear to be
very rare here in Finland, me and my father would be interested in
purchasing one.
And have you heard that the new ´97 minis are now unofficially imported in
Finland!!! They are great, but the price for sports packed cooper is around
170 000 FIM!!! Can you believe that? Finish taxation rules, I would say...
Well, that´s all for now.
Sakke :)

Howdy people!
.....
Concerning the IMM.
I and a few other people are going over to Ireland on the 2.15pm
ferry on the 23rd (Friday) of May. Anybody else going to be at Pembroke
Ferry port at this time? The more people in a convoy the better as far as
I'm concerned.

Well, it's not looking good.
I suddenly realised that if this month is April, then next month must be
May (hey! I'm quick, eh?)
And on checking my calendar it's about 5 weeks til my proposed departure
time.
What with there being only 1 pay-day between now and then. A MoT in the
middle, insurance to pay for etc. And I hadn't booked the ferry yet.
I ain't gunna make it, I'm afraid. Marcel, that Guinness will have to
wait. I'll still try my best to make it, but...
Might make the Mini World Riveria Run instead. I went on this in 95 and
it was real fun.
Anyone else going? Scott, Tamer, CrazyChris?? Other listers?
<checks old mail> Ah! James Forster is going, others?
How long you going to stay? Just until the Monday, or for the full week?
I shall now check http://www.surfshack.co.uk which seems to be the
*official* Riveria Run pages.
Regards,
Barry and Gayle - The Surf Babe.

Hi Micke,
Good to hear from you. I had a nice Easter thank-you, I hope you had a
good one too?
Thanks for Bo Anell's URL - I had actually picked it up from somewhere,
and left it in my 'to add' section, but I have added it now.
I should be at the IMM too - so will Marcel - we'll have to meet up for a
drink or two. I will be getting myself a T-shirt printed so people can
recognise me.
It should be a great event, hopefully the weather will be good!
Cheers,
Daniel.

Miniacs,
Well, there will be no excuse for missing other Miniacs at IMM. I'm having a
banner made (~2'x4') with the approved logo and I'll be bringing it with me.
As the time approaches I'll make arrangements with some Miniac to display it
to establish the list meeting point. I'm thinking we will all get together
at some pre-arranged time, say noon, so we can see what we look like :-)
I'll leave the banner with some lucky UK Miniac who will be attending
several other meets throughout the year, or at least will make arrangements
to ensure it gets there.

following addresses
IMM97 @ TINET.IE for all IMM information
OCARROLLA @ TINET.IE for personal messages.
All is going well the theme for the IMM'97 will be as Irish as possible ie
music and drink. But the Swedens are asked to leave that petrol you drink
at home. We are settinh up a web site for the IMM'97 and I hope you don't
mind if I hypelink it to your site, after the IMM it will become the Irish
Mini Owners Club page.
On a person note I want to know, now long you will be standing in Ireland
and will you be going to Neil and Mags Wedding on the Monday 2nd June .
See you soon.
A suggestion said that mini-listers would meet up Saturday 1600 hours at the Mini World Stand . Check at the information when you arrive at the meeting.....There will be a big banner with the mini-list logo on it , brought to the meeting by Marcel...
