Workshop on Eta Physics

Prospects of precision measurements with the CELSIUS/WASA facility

Ångstrom laboratory
Uppsala, Sweden

Workshop, October 22-27, 2001
Plenary sessions, October 25-27, 2001
Sponsors: The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences through its Nobel Institute for Physics,
The Swedish Research Council, and
The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education.

The CELSIUS/WASA facility at The Svedberg laboratory is now completed and operational. It was constructed with the aim of measuring rare decays of the pi and eta mesons. Part of the facility has already been used for studying eta production in proton-nucleon and proton-nucleus collisions. It is now a good time to review the status of our knowledge of eta and eta decays. A number of physicists has already accepted our invitation to lecture at the workshop, but others are also welcome. We have decided to concentrate the workshop on the physics of eta and eta? decays but a few contributions on production will also be presented.

Speakers:
L. Amettler (Barcelona) T. Johansson (Uppsala)
S. Bass (Munchen) U.-G. Meissner (Jülich)
