Scandinavian NeutrinO Workshop
 Uppsala, February 8 - 10, 2001

First Circular
===============

We are pleased to inform you that the Scandinavian NeutrinO Workshop, SNOW, will be held between 8 and 10 February, 2001 in Uppsala, Sweden. The workshop is sponsored by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences through its Nobel Institute for Physics and by the Faculty of Science and Technology, Uppsala University.

Following the 1998 evidence for the neutrino oscillations, neutrinos are becoming one of the hottest subjects in elementary particle physics and also in astrophysics. The goal of the workshop is to discuss the recent developements and activities in this field. Invited speakers will present the trends in theory and the results and status of all major experiments. Ample time will be reserved for discussions both during and after the sessions. At the end of the workshop there will be a round table discussion on the future of neutrino physics. A special semi-popular session will be organised for high school teachers and undergraduate students.

Most of the workshop talks will be given by invited speakers; however a small number of contributed papers will be accepted. The deadline for submitting contributions is January 15th, 2001. The following speakers have preliminarily agreed to give a talk:

N. Bergvall (Uppsala),
Y. Declais (Lyon),
F. Dydak (CERN),
J. Edsjö (Stockholm),
A. Geiser (Hamburg, Monolith),
M.C. Gonzales-Garcia (Valencia),
P.-O. Hulth (Stockholm),
S. Lola (CERN),
H. Nielsen (Copenhagen),
P. Osland (Bergen),
N. Ozturk (Bergen),
A. Para (Fermilab, Minos),
H. Pessard (Annecy, Opera),
S. Petcov (SISSA),
S. Pokorski (Warsaw),
A. Rubbia (Zurich, Icarus),
H. Snellman (Stockholm)
C. Sutton (Oxford),
C. Tao (Marseilles, Antares).

The workshop will start on February 8 (Thursday), in the morning and end on February 10 (Saturday), evening. It will take place in the new Angstrom Laboratory, situated at the Uppsala University science campus. Practical details comprising the description of the conference site, transportation, list of hotels, etc are provided on our WWW page:

There will be no registration fee.

The conference dinner will be held on February 9 in the Eklundshof restaurant, at the science campus. Price will be 350 SEK (alcoholic drinks not included).

Invited speakers from abroad will have their travel (APEX ticket) and lodging costs paid. Accomodation for other participants will be booked upon request.

The next circular will be sent around January 15th, 2001, together with a preliminary programme and participants' list.
