-Can neutrinos annihilate? and into what? (back to top)
Yes. Every elementary particle has its corresponding antiparticle, including neutrinos. So a neutrino and and ani-neutrino will annihilate into a Z0. The Z0 is unstable and it decays into lepton pairs (e+e-, μ+μ-, τ+τ-) or quark pairs, or it can decay back to a neutrino-anti neutrino pair.
(Note that a neutino will only annihilate with an anti-neutrino of its own type, which is really its antiparticle. A νe will not annihilate with an anti νμ, for example)
